Rising stars of coast golf
INNISFAIL’S rising golf stars delivered a standout performance at the Cairns Junior Open in Woree, with all five competitors doing their club and coaches proud.
Keean and Keira Greven, Keanu Baptiste, Hadassah Hazel and Maeena Hazel represented Innisfail Golf Club with confidence and skill across the two day event.
The opening day saw a brilliant round from Keira Greven, who fired an impressive 68 Nett to set the tone for the team.
The younger juniors took to the course the following day in the six hole and three hole modified competitions, where Innisfail continued to shine.
Keanu Baptiste followed in the footsteps of his father, Trent, producing a superb round to claim the six- hole modified nett trophy (boys). Maeena Hazel also impressed, securing both the Gross and Nett titles in the 3 hole modified (girls) division with a stellar performance.
The Cairns Junior Open attracted strong competition from across the region, with players travelling from as far away as Brisbane.
Clarification: Due to confusion in a story last week about the Innisfail Golf Club championships, the headline read ‘Andrew Rose takes A-grade title in golf championships’. Mr Rose won the A-grade senior division title, while Jake Cockle was overall A-grade club champion.
