The expansion follows 32 percent year-on-year growth in ticket sales for the four-day festival, which returns to the Mareeba Rodeo Grounds from October 9-12.

Site preparation will begin this week, with local contractor Charlie Nastasi tasked with slashing and prepping new paddocks to the east of the current campground footprint.

The additional capacity is designed to support the growing number of ticket holders opting for the full Savannah experience.

A highlight includes camping under the stars, convenient walking distance to the main stage, onsite amenities and the chance to stay close to the action.

Festival director James Dein, said last year’s campground hosted 4800 people across 2000 sites and this year’s campground had the capacity for 7200.

“Camping has always been at the heart of the Savannah in the Round experience,” he said.

“It is about music and mateship, bringing your tribe, setting up camp and being part of something special.”
