With 37 students enrolled, including four preps, the small rural school is proving personalised learning, community spirit and grand expectations can deliver big outcomes.

Principal Andrew Maley, now permanently appointed after four years leading the school, said Mundoo’s flexible multi-age structures remained one of its greatest strengths.

“Our core academic priorities are English and mathematics and we maintain high expectations, while ensuring learning is engaging, supportive and responsive to individual student needs,” he said.

The school has welcomed new students across most year levels, reflecting growing confidence in its leadership, staff and positive reputation within the community.

Mundoo also supports the next generation of educators by hosting student teachers and teacher aides each year, enriching classroom learning while providing valuable mentoring opportunities.

A major focus for 2026 is the development of a new adventure playground featuring a range of educational, play-based equipment designed to support physical development and wellbeing.

The school’s forest area is also being revitalised with new tree plantings and improvements to create an engaging outdoor learning space.

Student wellbeing remains a priority, with students and families supported by a visiting school chaplain through the Queensland Government’s National Student Wellbeing Program.

The school operates a daily breakfast club, offering toast, cereal and fresh fruit and tuckshop on Wednesdays which offers an extensive menu.

Mundoo’s Homework Centre continues to be a success after five years, with staff providing free homework support from 3pm to 4pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and a complimentary afternoon snack for students.

Families with young children also benefit from the school’s active Playgroup, held every Wednesday from 9am to 11am.

The school’s P&C Association remains a driving force behind community engagement, hosting monthly meetings on Tuesdays and coordinating major events.
