The independent survey – known as the ‘2026 MARKYT Community Scorecard’ – is managed by research agency Catalyse and is now ‘live’ and open for submissions.

It offers community members across the region a direct avenue to voice their opinions on everything from local roads, rubbish collection and rates – to parks, environmental management and community programs.

Cassowary Coast Regional Council is encouraging widespread participation, noting that public feedback plays a crucial role in shaping future council operational priorities, targeted community outcomes and regional advocacy efforts.

The launch marks the return of the popular community pulse-check, following previous scorecards conducted two and four years ago.

“Based on responses to the scorecards in 2022 and 2024, we advocated for improved medical services in Cardwell (above) and Mission Beach, the establishment of the Cassowary Coast University Centre and more funding to improve the safety and accessibility of public spaces,” council said in a news release announcing the latest survey.

While the 2024 results provided critical baseline measures for council performance and community satisfaction across towns from Cardwell to Innisfail, the latest instalment aims to measure progress, identify shifting regional needs and track how local sentiment has evolved over the past two-year cycle.

Residents can complete the questionnaire online through the Catalyse study portal or via links provided on the Council’s official website and social media channels.

For those who prefer traditional methods, hard-copy paper versions of the scorecard are being distributed directly to letterboxes across the region.

All completed surveys remain strictly private and confidential, handled independently by the research firm to ensure objective and unbiased reporting.

Participants have until 5pm on Friday 6 November 2026 to have their say.

Organisers have urged residents not to miss the deadline, saying community input directly influences how the Cassowary Coast prepares for future growth and liveability.

“The community can also share their priorities for making the Cassowary Coast the most liveable tropical community,” council said.
