The event is at shop 3, Banyan Plaza, 2-4 Stephen St, Mission Beach, on Thursday 2-4 July from 9am-3pm and on Saturday 4 July from 9am-noon.

Op Shop spokeswoman Judy Stipis said the change of dates would enable young people attending school to also visit the shop and enjoy what’s on offer in their local community.

“For the three days prior to opening, Mission Beach Family Church members will transform the venue into a vibrant op shop where a large variety of clothes, homewares, books, paintings and an array of many and varied items are beautifully displayed for sale at prices well below what is generally asked at neighbouring op shops,” she said.

“All are welcome to come and enjoy what’s on offer.”

Collection dates for donations to be dropped off will be Monday mornings 15, 22 and 29 June, 9am to 11am.

Mrs Stipis asked that the community please ensure goods were of good quality and not left outside of those dates and times unless prior arrangements have been made.

“The church is not attended outside of these times,” she said.

“Electrical items must be tagged and tested as safe before sale and large furniture cannot be accepted as space is very limited, although small furniture items can be accommodated.

“The Second Chances Pop-Up Op Shop also supports many in our community who may need a little extra support during tough times, as all earnings are donated back to local organisations, such as Tully Support Centre’s outreach to Mission Beach, Meals On Wheels and providing Christmas hampers to many of our elderly.”
