After a seven year hiatus, the much-loved event founded in 2017 by the Accatino family and close friends is back to support a cause that has touched countless local families. The ball was first created after Allan Accatino was diagnosed with Glioblastoma at just 57, inspiring his family to act in the face of a devastating diagnosis.

“After watching my dad lose who he was to brain cancer and pass away just eight months after being diagnosed, I knew we had to help find a cure to avoid others going through this horrible heartache,” said Rachel Accatino.

Between 2017 and 2019, the Silver Ball raised more than $50,000 for brain cancer research. The event paused during the COVID 19 pandemic, but the Accatino family felt 2026 was the right time to bring it back, this time with a sparkling masquerade theme.

“We know times are tough and there’s a lot going on in the world, but cancer never stops.” Please show a little support behind this cause that’s so close to our hearts, while having a great time.”

This year’s gala promises an unforgettable evening of elegance and entertainment. Guests will enjoy a three- course meal before hitting the dance floor as Beer & Body delivers high energy live music. The night will also feature auctions, raffles and plenty of surprises.

Brain cancer is one of Australia’s deadliest diseases, with around 2000 people diagnosed each year and an estimated 1639 deaths in 2025. All funds raised will support the Mark Hughes Foundation and brain cancer research.

Organisers are encouraging locals to gather friends, family and colleagues, don their masks and add a splash of silver for a night of dancing, laughter and community spirit — all in the name of tackling brain cancer.

The 18-plus event begins at 6pm and runs late into the night.

Tickets are still available at www.bit.ly/4dVYACS or The Silver Ball Innisfail Facebook and Instagram pages.
