The popular annual self-selected fours tournament, which has been held for many years, is named after the iconic mountain, Mt Baldy, a significant landmark in the area and the name reflecting the event’s connection to the local geography and community spirit.

Roy McCarthy, Kevin Deegan, Kevin Foord and Bobby Wright from South Johnstone won the competition with four wins and a margin of +50 which saw them each take home $300 in prize money.

The runners up were David White’s team from Marlin Coast which saw each player take home $200.

Innisfail’s Mark Elliott, John Phillips, Tony Burns and Alf Strano finished in third place and each collected $100.

The two-day event involved a full green of 64 bowlers from the Tablelands and across Far North Queensland where 16 teams played five games of 16 ends (or to the bell at two hours 20 minutes) played on both days. Over the weekend, the club ran raffles on both days, as well as a calcutta on Saturday.
