STEPS in right direction
NATIONAL adult education and disability support provider STEPS has opened its new Innisfail site.

STEPS’ new Lily Street site is outfitted with engaging classrooms and hands-on training tools, helping locals access learning through the free STEPS Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program and will also offer disability employment support through STEPS Work Mates, which is new to the area.
STEPS Northern Queensland regional manager Julian Szuba said STEPS was continuing its commitment to the Innisfail community.
“STEPS is known for providing unparalleled education and training opportunities and compassionate disability services across Australia and our new Innisfail site will make it easier than ever for locals to develop their skills and knowledge,” he said.
“I’ve witnessed the positive impact that STEPS has had on our participants and now even more people can take the next step towards their goals.
“Whether you want to explore a new career path or simply learn how to use the computer for everyday life, we’re here to help you.”
Mr Szuba said the STEPS SEE program allowed eligible participants to access English language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills training at no out-of-pocket cost, opening new pathways to professional opportunities, further study and more confidence in everyday life.
He said STEPS Work Mates helped people with a disability get ready for and thrive in the workplace through practical and personalised support.
Mr Szuba said the focus on Innisfail continued STEPS’ decades long commitment to communities in Far North Queensland, with other sites in Cairns CBD, Edmonton, Gordonvale, Mareeba and Mossman.
The new STEPS Innisfail site is at 5 Lily Street.
STEPS empowers individuals and communities through inclusive training, employment and support services.
“We’re dedicated to breaking down barriers, creating opportunities and building a sense of belonging, ensuring everyone has the chance to achieve their full potential,” Mr Szuba said.
“We are committed to making a difference by providing opportunities that truly change lives,” he said.
