Surf carnival to test skills and endurance of lifesavers
THE first beach carnival of the 2026 Surf Life Saving North Queensland Surf Sports is at Mission Beach Surf Life Saving Club on Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 July.

A club spokesman said the event would showcase the “incredible athleticism, skill, and teamwork of surf lifesavers from across the region”.
“Competitors of all ages – from five to 95 – will take part in a variety of thrilling surf sports disciplines, including beach flags, surf races and board racing,” he said.
“A highlight of the weekend will be the Dunk Island Classic Endurance Ski Race, a unique feature event that will see competitors take to the water at 8am on the Saturday.
“Set against the stunning backdrop of Dunk Island and South Mission Beach, this endurance race promises to be a spectacular display of skill and determination.
“The Mission Beach Surf Life Saving Club invites spectators to come along and enjoy this exciting weekend of competition, community spirit and breathtaking scenery.”
The event will be at the South Mission Beach foreshore near the patrol hut, starting at 8am on Saturday 18 July and ending at 3pm on Sunday 19 July.
