Three-point thriller

A GRIPPING three point thriller lit up the greens on 16 July, with Peter Broccardo and Rob Croatto holding firm under pressure to claim the men’s championship pairs title.

The pair edged out Alf Strano and Alf Siliato 23-20 in a tense finish, surviving a late surge that saw Strano and Siliato collect seven shots to one over the final three ends.

Tight contests continued at Thursday afternoon social bowls on 16 July.

First time skip Geoff Johnston teamed with Rod McMillan and Clem Kinbacher and steered his side to victory on 24 points.

They finished just one point clear of runners up Jim Martinod, Sam Pagano, Greg McDonald and David Cook, who closed on 23.

The club continues to welcome new members and visitors to Thursday social bowls. Names are required by 12.30pm for a 1pm start.

The $15 entry includes two 12-end games, smoko and a jackpot draw, a great afternoon of bowls and camaraderie.
