Trees light up park
STATE of Origin game two was certainly a brighter occasion for Queenslanders than the first game of the series – and, in Tully, the night was lit up even more.

Feature lighting was activated for the first time on game night to trees in Banyan Park, part of a Cassowary Coast Regional Council project which will soon see trees in Innisfail also illuminated.
“The lights are on in Tully,” council announced, after switching them on to bathe three large trees in a warm glow.
“It was fantastic to see local families and travelling visitors out enjoying the new feature lighting at Banyan Park while celebrating Queensland’s State of Origin game two win,” with council adding why it chose a big footy night to launch Tully’s new arboreal illumination.
“A special thank you to members of the Flegler family who joined us as we recognised Tully’s own Thomas Flegler and the mighty Maroons,” council said.
“The park came alive with smiles, photos and Maroon pride as the community gathered beneath the iconic rain tree and newly illuminated surroundings.
“Congratulations Thomas and the mighty Maroons on a hard-fought win.
“Banyan Park’s iconic rain tree is now sparkling with fairy lights, while the surrounding trees shine maroon in honour of Queensland’s second game comeback.”
