Trees to light up two towns
WORK has started on the installation of new lights on large trees in the central business districts of Tully and Innisfail.

As part of a Cassowary Coast Regional Council project to illuminate trees for both “safety and amenity”, council informed the public last week that minor disruptions might occur during installation at Banyan Park, Tully from 11-18 June.
There’ll be fairy lighting on one large tree and uplighting to three other trees in Tully, next to the Golden Gumboot.
Work was also scheduled to start this week on installing lights on trees in Innisfail’s ANZAC Memorial Park and Jack Fossey Park near the riverfront.
“The project will deliver feature lighting designed to create safer, more vibrant and welcoming public spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy after dark,” a post on council’s social media page said.
“The works respond directly to community feedback, with improved lighting identified as a key priority through the community scorecard to enhance both safety and amenity.”
