ARIA Award winner Andrew De Silva is returning to Cairns this August with a powerful tribute to one of the most beloved icons in pop history – George Michael.
Free to attend and staged live at BAR36 inside The Reef Hotel Casino, Andrew De Silva’s ‘Dedication to George Michael’ will run across two nights on Friday and Saturday 22-23 August from 9pm.
The show promises a dazzling celebration of the late superstar’s musical legacy, from his early days in Wham! to his global solo career. Expect powerhouse renditions of hits like ‘Too Funky’, ‘Careless Whisper’, ‘Faith’, ‘Fast Love’, ‘Father Figure’, and ‘Freedom’ – all delivered with the smooth charisma and vocal prowess that earned De Silva national acclaim.
Best known as the former frontman of R&B group CDB and winner of Australia’s Got Talent in 2012, De Silva has carved out a respected solo career with his rich voice and magnetic stage presence.
George Michael rose to fame in the 1980s as one half of Wham!, delivering infectious chart-toppers like ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’ and ‘Last Christmas’, before launching a phenomenally successful solo career.
His voice, style and honesty earned him legions of fans around the world and his songs continue to resonate across generations.
He died suddenly of natural causes in December 2016. He was 53. Michael was born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in north London and sold more than 100 million albums throughout a 40-year career.
Complete with glittering gold earrings, iconic sunglasses, tailored leather, and that unmistakable stubble, the show blends nostalgic glamour with heartfelt homage.
