United in the lead

INNISFAIL United’s under-23 women continued their scintillating form again, cruising to a commanding 3-0 victory over Stratford at Steve Corica Oval on 26 April to keep their place firmly on top of the ladder.

The home side scored late in the first half, with Jordyn Howell netting a goal to give Innisfail an 1-0 advantage. Their disciplined defence kept Stratford scoreless, allowing Innisfail to take the slim lead into the break.

Early in the second half, momentum continued when Howell slotted Innisfail’s second goal. Innisfail continued to apply pressure with their relentless attack and defence which again saw no goals conceded by Stratford.

Malorie Haworth sealed the emphatic win with a late strike in the 69th minute.

Over the May Day long weekend, Innisfail’s premier men and under-23 men travelled to Walker Road Sporting Complex, Edmonton to clash with the Southside Comets on 3 May. The under-23 women faced the Marlin Coast Rangers at Pennell Field, Trinity Beach on 1 May.

The premier team beat Southside Comets 4-2.
