United women smash Marlins
INNISFAIL United’s under-23 women stamped their authority on the competition once again, powering to a commanding 5-0 victory over Marlin Coast at Steve Corica Oval on 22 April to remain firmly on top of the ladder.

The home side exploded out of the blocks, with Malorie Haworth netting twice in the opening 10 minutes to give Innisfail an early 2–0 advantage. Their disciplined defence kept Marlin Coast scoreless, allowing Innisfail to take a comfortable lead into the break.
The momentum continued immediately after halftime when Jordyn Howell slotted Innisfail’s third. Just minutes later, Kaitlyn Musumeci extended the margin to 4-0, before Neena Curzon sealed the emphatic win with a late strike in the final 13 minutes.
In the under-23 men’s match, Innisfail fought hard but fell 2-1 in a tight contest against Leichhardt at Jeff Pezzutti Park on 18 April, with Pierre Alick scoring the Cutter’s lone goal.
The division two men’s home game fixture against Redlynch on 24 April was postponed due to wet weather conditions.
The premier men also travelled to Woree but were defeated 5–2 by Leichhardt. Head coach John Cavanah said the side struggled to maintain possession early but improved significantly after halftime.
“Leichhardt took advantage of our inability to maintain possession,” Cavanah said. “The second half was a lot better, and we scored two good goals from Harry Corica and Francesco Trotter, who played his first game since injury this season. We now have a two week break to refocus and get things right, and we’ll have Trotter and Cameron Epong available to play.”
Innisfail’s premier men and under 23 men return to action on 3 May, travelling to face Southside Comets at Walker Road Sporting Complex in Edmonton. The under-23 women hosted Stratford at Steve Corica Oval, Mourilyan on 26 April.
