This after work gathering buzzed with new year momentum as women reconnected, shared ideas, exchanged referrals and began mapping out another big year of events.

Organiser Peta Abela was thanked for coordinating the evening, which set a positive tone for the months ahead.

The network, now 64 members strong, continues in its mission to connect, empower and celebrate women in business across the Cassowary Coast.

President Kerry Clow leads the organisation alongside a dedicated executive team of Candice Thorley (vice president), Gitta Yelds (secretary), treasurer, Britney Anastasi and committee members, Peta Abela and Brooke Davies.

Ms Clow said CCBWN was a professional network of Cassowary Coast business women (Innisfail to Cardwell).

“From its inception in 2010, it has continued to grow and develop to the dynamic and diverse group of business women that we are today,” she said.

“We hold monthly events, focusing on professional and personal development, themes of business-related subjects, professional speakers and opportunities for members and guests to share information and experiences.

“You don’t have to run your own business to be a CCBWN member or attend our events.

“If you just want to mix with a great bunch of professional women where you can learn, make friends, enjoy a meal (and maybe a glass of wine) be inspired and supported – you are welcome.”

The group’s next major event ‘Women Driving Health and Wellbeing’, will be held on Tuesday 10 February at Mission Beach Resort.

The interactive event runs from 6.30pm to 9.30pm and includes finger food platters, followed by a panel of eight local female health professionals sharing practical advice, personal insights and real life experiences centred on health and wellbeing.

Speakers include Dr Favier and Dr Leonie from Tully and Mission Medical Centres, Dr Jennifer Hamilton from Hamilton Dental, Cassowary Coast Physiotherapy & Pilates, Yoga by Susan Kelly, Yoko@Mission and The Shed Gym Mission Beach, all led by women who juggle thriving businesses, families and community commitments while striving to maintain their own wellbeing.

The event offers a chance for anyone seeking fresh perspectives, meaningful connection and a gentle boost to start the year on the right note.

Bookings are essential, with the venue requesting numbers by 5 February. Tickets are $40 for members and $60 for non members, available online at www.bit.ly/4q8syq7
