Young anglers snare awards
YOUNG Far North anglers have claimed top honours in the latest AJFC Aussie Junior Fishing Classic April Competition.

The nationwide competition wrapped up after attracting junior anglers from across Australia, with strong entries recorded across multiple fish categories.
Gordonvale angler Carter Blake took out first place in the carp category in the 13-17 years division, recording a combined measurement of 1344mm with his two largest carp.
Mossman junior angler Toby Bellman also secured first place in the 13-17 years division, winning the mullet category with a combined measurement of 950mm from his two largest fish.
The April competition featured a wide variety of fish species and several close contests across divisions.
AJFC co-founder Sam Beckmann said the event highlighted the continued growth of junior fishing competitions across the country.

“The April competition was a great success, with entrants from all over Australia putting in some outstanding efforts. Carter and Toby’s result were very well deserved. It’s fantastic to see young anglers getting outdoors, enjoying fishing and building skills and confidence through events like the AJFC,” Mr Beckmann said.
The AJFC Aussie Junior Fishing Classic provides a platform for young anglers to compete, connect and enjoy fishing in a supportive environment.
Organisers said participation levels and the quality of catches demonstrated the growing popularity of junior fishing events nationwide.
Attention is now turning to the next AJFC Aussie Junior Fishing Classic competition, which will run from 27 June to 12 July. Anglers are being encouraged to follow the 2 Bent Rods social media pages for entry details, updates and announcements.
